A 44-year veteran of the energy business, David W. Biegler has held management positions in several industry sectors: natural gas pipeline and midstream gathering and processing; electric and gas distribution utility; exploration and production; oil field services; and electric power generation.

Biegler also is chairman and chief executive officer of Estrella Energy, a Southcross investor. He was a co-founder and chairman of Regency Gas Services, a natural gas processing, gathering and transmission pipeline enterprise.

Biegler retired as vice chairman of TXU Corp. in late 2001. He previously was president and chief operating officer of TXU Corp. beginning in August 1997 when TXU (known as Texas Utilities at that time) and ENSERCH Corporation merged.

Biegler had been the chairman, president and chief executive officer of ENSERCH Corporation. He previously served as president and chief operating officer of ENSERCH’s natural gas division, Lone Star Gas Company, with responsibility for natural gas pipelines, distribution and processing. Biegler also was president of several ENSERCH oil field services subsidiaries and held various management positions, including vice president, at Enserch Exploration, ENSERCH’s exploration and production company. He began his career at ENSERCH as a petroleum engineer.

Biegler is a director of Southwest Airlines, Trinity Industries, Inc. and Austin Industries.

Biegler earned a bachelor of science degree in physics from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio in 1968. He completed Harvard University’s advanced management program in 1979.

Biegler has been a member of the National Petroleum Council and was chairman of the American Gas Association, the Southern Gas Association and the American Gas Foundation. He is active in civic organizations and charitable causes in the Dallas area.
